2 days @ a glance

Today was great! But I shall tell you all about 5th Sunday first!

After 3 weeks of planning by Shandy and me, plus our wonderful facilitators ( Alena, Joy, Marilyn, Ezra, Leanne, Gregory, Catherine) , our logistics Terrence and advisors Richard and Jonathan. The day had come!

I woke up at 7, went to macs to meet Ezra and Joy for breakfast. But unfortunately, Ezra overslept while Joy was late. Anyway, at 8am Joy and I proceeded to church to prepare for the final meeting of facilitators to settle any outstanding matters. The discussion was great, we were all set to go. Everyone proceeded to the sanctuary for service, then left halfway at 930am when the preacher was going through a very interesting story… Couldn’t bear to leave lor!
The facilitators left to tend their station while me and Shandy organized the people who were going into groups. And so the games began! Shandy, me and logistics went to get the birthday cake, den chiong to Bukit Batok Nature Reserve to set up equipment.
60 X 4 waterbombs were made, and with many colours!  Then we waited. Though it did rain at some of the stations, our final station was totally dry thanks to the Lord’s blessings.
They finally arrived and we all had lunch cautiously cos of the monkeys that appeared, and one of them wanted to snatch our papaya away.
The last group had to do a forfeit, that was to eat a papaya sprinkled generously with milo powder. AKA Papaya Dinosaur. They seemed to enjoy it leh!
We then had the classic birthday bash followed by worship led by Peter n Jonathan. Just together with nature, we sang. With sincerity. Just a single acoustic guitar.
Okay the above sentences are enough to make me fail written communication… SO many dependant clauses and phrases.
Anyhow, we played like mad people, throwing streaks of red, green and blue into the air… WHOOTS. Yepp. After all that we just had a debrief and went home!
It was w success I tell u!
Many thanks to those who helped to make it a success!

Today:
Went to NH to finish up photoshoot for GB and submit all the photos needed for the wall collage.
Den went to Orchard, met Hammy along the way, den went back to Bukit Batok. Had fellowship with Richard, Terence, Alena, Catherine, Shandy, Nick, Ezra. Went to Pastamania, ordered creamy chicken penne! OMG it was heavenly! Tho the garlic bread wasn’t too nice. My last piece was used for zhong ji mi ma, and they added a lot of funny stuff onto it… Shandy had to eat it! But she just managed a nibble.

“Its rude to sit down when you’re sweating!” – Alena Wan’s mantra
Cant help teasing her about it… Its just so cute! Lol.

We then went to Swensons for ice cream. Wow I m spending $ like nobody’s business…

Lunch at canteen - $2
Chicken Nuggets student’s meal - $4
Pasta - $6.90
Drinks and Garlic Bread – $2.50
Cookies n Cream Ice Cream - $3.30
TOTAL: $18.70

WOW. Spending so much on one day. I need to fast for tomoro liao.

Anw we had a lot of fun together today. I really love all of them. YF rawks!  This is the type of bonding we need I tell u! Really!

Today @ a glance

WOW. Today was a faith stretching day.

Well of course, some people who are not supposed to be reading this is probably just happily reading this and trying to get some benefit out of it but unfortunately, this is just a simple desciptive blog entry. So shoo if you want to find something to gossip about. :)

Today was a test of faith. A test of trust.

Razo.Uncle John.Shandy.Joy.Nick.Ezra.Leanne.Alena.Joyce.Gregory.Catherine. Marilyn.Terrence.Richard.

Thank you so much all of you... Without you all, this event would not have been a success.

From a meeting at macs, Clementi, to the carrying out of this event...

Despite the disappointing number of people who turned up, putting me in a spot as I tried to group them up, I really want to thank God that I managed to make last minute changes to the plan that was on hand after 4 edits. We had 3 groups instead of 4, and the station games began.

Shandy, me and logistics went to buy the birthday cake... Okay this is SOOOOO gonna sound narrative. But anyways, we got the choc cake for $15, den moved off to the nature reserve to set up 60 X 5 number of waterbombs. Bandung, Blue Coral and Green Apple Waterbombs. :)

Many thanks to the waterbomb making master Terrence for his theory lesson on how to make waterbombs... haha. And so we were done after about an hour, and were all set! Then came the dreaded phone calls. It was raining at the other stations.... Wet weather plan was activated, games were held indoors... Thankfully it did not rain at the nature reserve... We had faith okay!

And so the food arrived shortly... 3 trays of endless sandwiches and hotdogs... All thanks to Shandy's mum and Auntie April I think. Ya. The grps slowly came in, and soon all of us had enough food to last us the afternoon... We den carried out the birthday bash for the October Babies... :) Wanted to smash cake actually but theres a part of me that always remind myself not to waste the glorious cream and chocolate.

Forfeit for the last team to arrive was: Either the guys tuo their shirt off OR everyone consume a papaya DINOSAUR FUZE. (Papaya cut on a NEW trash bag with a generous sprinkle of Milo Fuze)

And they chose the latter, which I was thankful for, otherwise we wun know what to do with the papaya. Perhaps Papaya's Captain's ball? Anyway, yar that's abt it for the forfeit.

Worship was okay though I was a little disappointed that some people were more interested in looking at little kids playing at the playground... Haha.

And finally, we had our mass games... Rainbows were cast into the air like flying streaks of saturation... The wonders of coloured water bombs! :)

Then Gabriel (newcomer) used his magician umbrella to keep dry... diao. I half expected him to use a deck of cards to swipe at the bombs tt fly at him, rendering them useless... :)

Certain interesting things happened but I shall have a small mouth and not blabber it out here. Tho it was really very interesting yet disturbing.

Anyway, the event was a success I think. Really really loved it...

Thank you oh Lord...

Comfortable Beanbags

Now I know how comfortable beanbags are. Fell asleep for about an hour at the library after making my previous post... Was brought back to reality by the librarian who woke me up and asked me to wash up. Haha. Oops.

What a boring day! School starts at 1pm and ends at 5pm... ho-hum. currently in the library slacking on a large comfy beanbag. I have this strange urge to pop downstairs at the atrium for a hot chocolate or perhaps lip-smacking chicken mayo sandwich. Or perhaps both. Irresistable. Haha.

Ho-hum. boring la.

Interdisciplinary studies are lessons that are carried out with other students from other courses. They simply love to leech on mass commers.. Esp projects. Most of the work will get done up by the mass commer who has to single handedly push the other members to work. Perhaps this is why people say mass commers are proud and arrogant? I'm not sure. Nvm.

Written communications does not involve narrative or descriptive type of essays. Instead. They teach expository. That kinda makes me a lil bit worried. HAHA. But nvm. English rawks.

What should I have for lunch... Hmmmm. What about dinner? Hmmmmm.

I'm so bored! Shall end my entry here. visit my photo blog for updates

Today @ a glance

Hmmm. I stil have yet to change my main blog's skin! Nvm. Shall take my time to change it. Not many people seem to visit this main blog, though its the oldest blog in my collection. Been blogging since 2 years ago... Be sure to check out my archives, and you will realise how much I've changed over the years. You might even get hints of my personal secrets! haha. Kidding.
Been busy taking picsfor Nan Hua... I really wonder if the help is appreciated. My shutter life has approximately 10000 left before it may crash. This means that after about 10000 more presses, the shutter dies and needs to be replaced. That will cost about $300. But nvm. I shant worry. Its the shots that matter, not the equipment.
I've been saving up madly for the SB800 flash that costs $600. Is it worth it? OR should I just get the SB600 for $340. If I wanted the SB600, I would have easily gotten it with my current savings. Been saving up since February... Started with a meagre sum of $20.
I've been spending alot. Too much. I must save up already. No more lavish presents or such... No more neos unless its with nice nice people... Need to save.

Main Important Stuff I need to buy:
1) Flash unit - $600
2) Bluetooth dongle ( I spoilt mine by accident... ARGH.) - $20

Other wants:
3) D70s camera handgrip - $200+
4) Polariser - $20
5) Extra battery - $90
6) Ipod Nano/ Creative Mp3 - $400
7) Sunglasses! - $??
8) Nice cap! - $??

I will go out to earn the money I need. Cannot use my savings liao.

Now that school has reopened, its back to studies! :)

Studying these now:
1) Social Pschology
2) Speech Communication
3) Written Communication
4) Radio Productions
5) Interdisipplinary Studies

CCAs:
Photography and FMSS (Film & Media Studies Society)
Zao Bao She Ying Dui

People seem to come to me only when they need me... How nice? Its in my nature not to go against such people, so they take advantage of me.

Life at a glance

There appears to be a problem with hello by picasa. I cannot post my pictures at all using the software... :( Oh wells.

Thursday:
Went to ice skate again... Read cheezer's blog for details...
Then photoshoot in the afternoon...

Friday:
Met up with Shandy aka Games i/c for the youth... We discussed stuff over at macs, Clementi, from 11am to about 1pm. This 5th Sunday on the month will be an event organised by us... Games, Worship and Praise. Location? Places around Bukit Batok. We decided to end off the games with a worship & Praise session at Bukit Batok Nature Reserve and finally blast off with a mass wet games thingy. Of cos, wet games means really wet games. WAHA!

More details will be released soon... But i promise tt it will be a fun event! Cos its not done just for fun. Its to glorify God! :)

I feel that God introduced me to CHC for a reason. Though I already have a church, BBPC. There must be a reason. So lets see how it goes.

Anyhow, we managed to get Ezra, Catherine, Nick and some others to help out as facilitators. GAMES!!!!! :)

Okay after the discussion I left for JP to buy very very improtant gifts! :)

Went back to Clementi. To Nan Hua. Photo taking session with NPCC, NCC, Softball, Netball. And some shots of SJAB. I cant post the pics cos of the problem with hello by picasa.

After all that, I was quite tired liao. Merrien told me that Shirlyn cant make it for cell at Jeanie's house... Rather disappointed but nvm. How to put it... Its like, I'm going partly so that Shirlyn wun feel out of place as the only person not from CHC. Haha. My main aim is to get Shirlyn to accept Christ. She's still unsure about it you see. Must pray for her and Clara. Yay Shirlyn is going for service tomoro. But I wun be joining them as I need to go to my own church. Haha. Perhaps next week dens... Might want to go every Sat for service at Expo den Sundays I can spend time in my church. More time with God mah. haha. See how. Anyway i agreed to go for cell with Merrien... :)

It was GREAT! Wow. Loved their cell grp! Started with an animal game thingy... Den I kept doing the butterfly move... HAHAHA. x.X A short worship session...Follwed by testimonial sharing... Den preaching by Jeanie... Ended with more worship n praise! WOOTS. NICE. Really enjoyed myself. Of cos what was most impt was tt it glorified God la. Haha.

Ended quite late... Parents not used to me going home so late... Haiz... Not too happy abt it. But nvm.

Was a very nice day! Tho i was tired out. haha.

TODAY:
Slacked thru the morning... Went to Safra mount faber in the afternoon... My brother bowled while i watched... haha. no mood to bowl. haha. Den went home liao lor. Fixed the photo blog problem... Apprently it had something to do with the tagboard...

Things to do:
- Blogskins (Kwok Hua and another one)
- Planning for 5th Sunday
- Photoshoot for NH
- Pass video to VAT (hardcopy)
- Get ready for school reopening
(at last??? but mondays and thursdays end at 6pm! NOOOOO.)

Okay that's abt it for now. :)

Today @ a glance

The lord has kindly answered my question! :) Apparently charismatic and lighthouse churches believe that once you have the holy spirit, speaking in tongues would come naturally. However, other churches believe that the speaking on tongues is a rare gift. (Based on Corinthians) While some other churches don't even believe that people speak in tongues anymore as ever since the pentecost, it no longer existed.

This answer came a day after my confusion. haha. God always answers... Its either, Yes, No, or wait. :)
What a controversial topic. lol. I shall not probe liao. Which of the 3 shd i believe in? LOL. Doesnt matter. Same God.

Today I went to pasir ris! :) Cycled and took some photos... With my family of cos. Apparently Escape and Wild Wild Wet are undergoing some construction work. Will be done by 14th of October. lol.

Den went to Safra mount faber. Bro and mum bowled. Then my aunt came and showed me a passage from the bible in malachi.Shes a very devout christian... Then the back of her bible reads: Control urself. Dun do public preaching. lol.
Happened so that that passage she showed me, was about robbing God aka not contributing tithes. 10% of my allowance tt is. This is the 2nd time God has spoken to me liao. 1st time was at the City Harvest service abt tithes. The 3rd time came when I received a call from City Harvest regarding the offering envelope. LOL. 3 TIMES LEHH. I must take note sia.

Hahas. I'm spiritually back on track n yearning to start planning for an october event in my church. :) Yayness. Got inspired by some faithful young believers.

ICE SKATING caused my red blister. Its stil red and swollen. I shall go ice skating again on thurs. :) YAY. SO fun.

That was random.

I must get myself a nicer bag. :)

Another random thought.

Many thanks to Shirlyn, Gwendolyn and a mystery person. As a result of their "teachings" I have started being more concerned with wad I wear to go out. X.x Andd how I look. Yes I know I'm ugly. Go vomit in the sink now. :)

Lalalalala. Yepp. Blogging is fun.

Wish I my loved ones will eventually LOVE God MORE than me. Only then can there be world peace :P

Another random thought.

Heh I saw somebody putting Jesus on their list of "I LOVE" on friendster. I just think its wrong to categorise him with other stuff like Sun Ho or handbags or wadever clothes. MY opinion. :P

Yepp. That's all for today.

Today @ a glance

Today went ice skating for the first time in my entire life! :) Went to JEC at 1130am, saw students like Evia and Xianzheng waiting for their movie... I went to ice skating rink to watch Charmaine and many many other nan huarians skate... ooooh. like so fun lar. I so happy! Den met up with hammy. She was like wearing, pink shirt, hot pink jacket, pink shoes, and Red glasses. LOL.and pink bag. Followed by a pair of pink gloves we she bought. We ate lunch, den waited for Wenya and Kiat Hoon. Den went in... OMg lar SOMEBODY'S bf so rou mah. She almost fell den he tried to hold her... Ended up hugging her and falling wif her to the ground... I was like omg omg omg! (omg stands for oh my goodness, not otherwise.)
And so we got our shoes n gloves, and waited for awhile for resurfacing of the rink. I hobbled tentatively onto the rink, unsure of how this was going to be like. Slippery! LOL. My feet were bent in an awkward position lar. My natural instinct to try to lower my centre of gravity and etc. The maintainence guy saw n shook his head den told me to straighten my feet. lol... Haha. So many pros at work there. Saw many kids (one of them very arrogant indeed... See his face u know liao... So black n haughty... Can skate well so wad! Big ah.lol. Reminds me of certain camera shops. lol)
Den of cos i skated lar. Ranie was like, tsk tsking me. Eh my first time lor. lol. Den kena blister after awhile. Many of us kena la. Cos skate for too long... I fell about 3 times total from 2pm to 5pm. Mostly frontal falls. Safe. Fell using the usual Mr Low method. haha. Knees first! haha.
Charm was very nice...Suxiang also... Ranie also... Helped me along as i learnt how to balance... haha. At about 430pm i guess i can say i can safely move around safely wo fallling. Hammy was a faster learner haha. With a high stamina... Kept going round haha. Ranie freak was like skating like a pro. haha. Then there was this birthday dedication and snow rained down on everyone. Of cos, soap flakes increases melting point of ice, and the place was starting to melt down. hahaa. quite wet sia.
Yepp. Skate skate skate... Kiat Hoon and Wenya kept getting scolded by Ranie for slacking. lol... Woots. Very fun.
Then suddenly got this gal came up to me and say," I like guys wif curly hair." Then I totally diao. IT was of cos some dare lar. Her classmates were like laughing like mad. Some commonwealth people outside the rink. hhaha.
YEpp. After all tt I went MRt meet Yi Hui and walked home wif him soon after. What a day. :)
Many thks to the people who helped me along wif the learning! And praise the lord for keeping me safe! :)

That LONG entry.

Something inspired me to make this post... lol! :P A very long one that is rather religious...

The gift of tongues was a supernaturally endowed ability, given by the Holy Spirit to select Christians, enabling those believers to speak in previously unlearned human languages. The ideal use of the gift involved the translation of the message for the general edification of fellow believers or evangelism of unbelievers. This ability was not given to all Christians nor were they commanded to seek it. It was not considered the hallmark of the early church, nor is it ever highlighted as a normal part of the Christian experience.

Why am I typing all these? I’m just merely curious about this gift. It is indeed odd that so many people speak in tongues, yet there is nobody around who can interpret what is being said. Yes it is for God, but anything that is spoken on the pulpit or stage should be spoken one at a time and be interpreted for the edification of the church. Where are all the interpreters? That is what I m so curious about. So many with the gift of tongues yet, no interpreters?

Can anyone just answer me? Why? Where are these interpreters? Hmmmm. Very odd indeed. Nobody understands when somebody is supposed to if it is really the rare gift of tongues. *shivers down my spine*

Personally I have gone to 4 different churches in my entire life. First one was Faith Methodist Church at Queenstown. I wasn’t a true Christian back then. Too young I suppose. No speaking of tongues by anyone… Then I went to Revival Centre Church in Novena. There was speaking of tongues on the pulpit and congregation but no interpretation. But no interpretation. A strange phenomenon followed whereby members seemed to fall critically ill. When I left this church, about 4 people had died already. And these were normal working young adults, mind you. Something was not right…

And so I ended up in my current church, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church. A more traditional type of service, with no speaking of tongues on stage. Well so far I haven’t heard any. The spirit of the lord still can be felt of cos. Thus I’ve been here since 1998, and now serving as head of communications for the youth. And preparing to serve more in drumming for worship as well.

Recently I went to City Harvest Church to take a look at how things are like there. I love their worship service… Very contemporary! ☺ More suited to the youths I guess… ☺ Perhaps I will join them regularly if I have the time to juggle 2 churches… lol. Just need someone to like explain why so many speak in tongues when its supposed to be a rare gift… LOL… Really supposed to be very rare lor… lol… And not supposed to be controlled as in u cant speak it just becos u want to, but only when the holy spirit decides to.

Hope I m not having doubts like Thomas la. I really do believe tt such gifts exist and of cos, that Jesus exists. Just answer tt question. Lol

The gift of tongues is to be exercised with restraint and in an orderly way. The regulations for its public use are simple and straightforward. The person who speaks in an unknown tongue is to pray that he may interpret (1 Cor 14:13). Or, someone else is to interpret what he says. Only two or three persons are to speak, with each having an interpretation of what he says. Each is also to speak in turn. If these criteria are not met, they are to remain silent (1 Cor 14:27-28). The gifts of speaking in tongues and their interpretation are to be Spirit-inspired. Paul also points out that tongues are a sign to unbelievers. This kinda applies to the fact that there were non believers around every time I heard the speaking of tongues.
If these guidelines are not observed, unbelievers who are present will conclude that the people of the church are out of their minds.
The phenomenon of speaking in tongues described in the New Testament is not some psychological arousal of human emotions that results in strange sounds. lol. This is a genuine work of the Holy Spirit.

What about the false gift of tongues that is inspired by the devil to deceive?

When the false gift occurs in a church, it invariably becomes a religious status symbol and the power of suggestion soon spreads it abroad throughout the church. When it appears to be a mark of special divine favor, some esoteric experience to which only a privileged few can attain, then it soon creates a very deep subconscious desire for the manifestation of this in other individuals' lives. When that desire becomes strong enough, as it certainly does when there is a group that accepts this as a mark of the Holy Spirit and therefore calms all fears about it, then such desire, burning deep in the heart, bypasses the conscious control of speech in the brain and the subconscious mind takes over the tongue and produces whatever is expected or strongly desired. Psychologists have described this as occurring with people who have no strong religious convictions at all. It is a known psychological phenomenon.
I don't imply by this that anyone who experiences this means to deceive. He doesn't. He is quite deceived himself and what he does is done honestly, but nevertheless it is not of the Spirit. That is the point. It is not the true, Biblical gift. Because this is a psychological phenomenon, some people by constitutional make-up are simply unable to respond and this creates a very unhappy situation. There are some wonderful, born again Christians, earnestly desirous of having everything that God wants them to have, wanting to go on with God, who are deceived into thinking that this is a mark of divine favor. They struggle to receive this gift but never get it, and eventually fall into despair. From this there come those terrible divisions that so frequently mark the appearance of tongues phenomenon in the churches today.

Now this is not the way of faith. This is not the way of the Spirit. The Bible declares that the weakest believer in Jesus Christ has everything that the strongest saint ever had. You are complete in Christ! In Jesus Christ dwells "all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" {cf, Col 2:9 KJV}, and "you are complete in him" {cf, Col 2:10 KJV}, no exceptions. Therefore, it is possible for any believer by simply believing what God says, and acting on all that Christ is, to enter into the fullness that God has for him. This is true of any other saint in any other age. It does not depend on tarrying or waiting and pleading or some psychological make-up which either allows or does not allow the manifestation of such a gift.

Results of the false gift include the splitting of the church and the mad rush to attempt to learn or attain the ability to speak in tongues.

And now I shall end my long harangue here by warning that too much interest in this gift will result in a distraction of our attention from the true work of God the Spirit, which is the exaltation of Jesus Christ. They are so concerned with the gifts they forget the Giver and forget the outreach of the gospel and the need of hungry hearts around them. Even though this topic results in a greater interest of unsaved people, I have noticed that the interest is always focused on tongues, not upon the Lord, nor upon the gospel. This is a diversionary tactic to get us involved in some secondary thing rather than the primary, the exaltation of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, I shall no longer probe into this matter. ☺

I do have a survey that helps determine what are your spiritual gifts tho. Interested pls msn me. Lol.

The haze has cleared up today! so happy. My sensitive nose can get a break. haha. Was coughing badly... My lungs are not tt strong since young... haha. Many things have happened recently. Will blog about them soon I guess.

Stuff that happened:
- Uncle's salvation before he died ( This is like the 3rd time this has happened la. Both my grandfathers also had salvation be4 they passed away. Phew. )
- Acceptance of Christ by my Aunt thks to my uncle's death. Soon to come my grandma will do so to. YAY./
- Photoshoots at NHHS
- School reopens on the 16th of October.
- Photoshoot on 13th October for NCC
